The Trial and Excecution
Gacy turned himself in and gave a full confession to the police sealing his fate. On Wednesday, February 6, 1980, John Wayne Gacy's murder trial began in the Cook County Criminal Court in Chicago, Illinois. The prosecution had more than enough evidence to convict gacy it was just a matter of time. In gacys defense he pushed for insanity. Stating that gacy wasnt himself when he commited the murders. experts were even brought in to testify on gacys behalf but his act fooled noone. After 5 weeks at trial and the testimony of over 100 witnesses the jury was finally ready to decide. After just 5 hours of dileberation the jury came back with a guilty verdict. Gacy was sentenced to death and this was carried out on May 10, 1994. When Gacy was asked if he had any last words he simply replied "Kiss My Ass."
